About us

Who are we?

MU Game Studies is an organization with the aim to support projects focused on higher education (mainly among students and non-student interest groups) in the field of creation and reception of digital games in the Czech Republic.

What Was

MUGS was founded in 2009. The association was generally composed of graduates and current students of various disciplines of Masaryk University in Brno. Mostly from the Faculty of Philosophy (FF), Faculty of Social Studies (FSS) and Faculty of Informatics (FI). During its operation, the association has organized several conferences (Virtual Worlds, COnference) and participated in many (CEEGS). All the efforts finally resulted in 2016 in the creation of the Gamer Pie festival, which is still operating today, although independently of MUGS.

What will be

MUGS is currently in the first stages of its revival. Our vision is to take up the torch and ensure that interest in game studies does not disappear from the university field. We want to become a point of contact between students and the Czech (and foreign) gaming industry and ecosystem. The specific form of the association is still taking shape, so there has never been a better opportunity to get involved.
